How do I know
the pill wonโt seem
bitter to your tongue
through your teeth?
How do Iย wear
a once white coat
stained with tears
of memories?
How do I compel
my pen to write
scripts to fight
a dimming light?
How do I know
ย which waters will flow
to unearth theย strength
within me?
How do I persuade
a heart to let go
when itโs my hand
that sets you free?
How do I ensure
my smile wonโt be
one of the last
that youโll see?
How do I force
my ears to hear
a song I fear
of dusk so near?
How do I know
which waters will come
to enshroud the doubts
within me?

Phoebe, such a poignant picturing the heart pulls that are a part of your life.
Beautifully said.
Thank you. ๐
You have helped so many. Unfortunately, not all can be saved. Thank you for sharing your heart.
Thank you, Erica. Wishing you the best. ๐
My only response to this, is a poem I wrote on my blog a while back. I think you might like it http://philipwardlow.com/2012/06/21/in-a-dark-cave/
I just went back and read it again. Love it. It is powerful…and surprisingly comforting… ๐
Your poem is a rich gift. Your compassion lights the way for your patients as it steadies you. <3
