A Gentle Invitation to Support Health + Inspiration

Some spaces in life are loud and hurried. Others are quiet—offering rest, reflection, and a gentle reminder that hope still lives, even in difficult seasons.

Health + Inspiration was created to be one of those places. A place devoted to nurturing the body, nourishing the soul, and offering steady encouragement along the journey of health and everyday life. Over time, this small corner has become something shared, shaped not only by the words written here, but by every reader who has paused to spend a moment within them.

Caring for this space also carries simple, practical responsibilities. Each year, there are ongoing needs that allow the website to remain present, accessible, and thoughtfully maintained. Until now, those responsibilities have been carried in the background. Because this space now gently depends on the kindness of those who believe in it, an invitation to offer support is being shared with gratitude.

For anyone who has found comfort, encouragement, or peace here, a new option is available to help sustain Health | Inspiration and the writing it holds. Any gift, offered freely and from the heart, helps preserve this quiet place so that it may continue to welcome others who need rest, hope, or reassurance.

And where support is not possible, please know this with complete sincerity: Your presence here is already a gift beyond measure.

Health | Inspiration will remain a space of openness, encouragement, and shared light—freely given, just as it has always been.

Thank you for being part of this shared journey, and for the kindness, seen and unseen, that allows gentle things to continue in the world.

From music notes to love notes: Dr. Chi is engaged!

Life has a way of bringing people back into one another’s lives at the most unexpected times.

Nearly 30 years ago, Shawn was beginning his career as a band director, and Phoebe was one of the many students who passed through his music program. At the time, their connection was simply that of a teacher and student brought together by music. Neither could have imagined that, decades later and after living entirely separate lives, their paths would cross again under profoundly different circumstances.

Over the years, they each followed their own calling, experienced life’s joys and challenges, and grew into the people they were meant to become. When they reconnected as adults nearly three decades later, they approached one another not as the people they had once been, but as two individuals meeting again in a completely new season of life.

What began as a renewed acquaintance gradually developed into a meaningful relationship rooted in trust, shared values, mutual respect, and a love for God that continues to guide their path.

The Rainbow Bridge: Finding Comfort After the Loss of a Beloved Pet

A few months ago, I had to say goodbye to my sweet cat, Cowie. Losing her left an ache in my heart that I wasn’t prepared for. If you’ve ever lost a pet, you know that they’re not just animals—they’re family, companions, and sources of unconditional love. It’s one of the deepest kinds of loss, and in those moments, we look for any kind of comfort we can hold onto. For me, that comfort came through something I’d always heard of but never fully appreciated until now—the Rainbow Bridge.

What is the Rainbow Bridge?

The Rainbow Bridge is a concept that many of us turn to when we lose a beloved pet. It’s said to be a peaceful, beautiful place where our pets go after they pass. In this place, they are free—free from pain, free from sickness, and free to run and play in vast, green meadows under a gentle, glowing rainbow. But perhaps the most comforting part of the Rainbow Bridge is the belief that our pets wait for us there. They watch over us, filled with love, until the day comes when we are reunited and can cross that bridge together.

Pet loss memorial board

When Cowie passed, I was devastated. The loft suddenly felt emptier, quieter. My heart wasn’t ready to say goodbye. Recently, Shawn made me a beautiful memorial board to honor her, and it carries the words, “Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.” Those words couldn’t be more true. As I held that board, I found myself thinking more about the Rainbow Bridge. It’s not just an idea—it’s a reminder that even though Cowie isn’t physically here, her love remains. And in that place beyond the rainbow, she’s waiting for me, healthy and happy once again.

Embracing Imperfection: Our Journey of Transformation

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the idea of imperfection and how it plays such a profound role in our lives. At Sweet Bee Artisan Boards, Shawn and I have found ourselves drawn to rustic lumber—wood that many would consider flawed or imperfect. But as we’ve worked with these boards, I’ve come to see them as a powerful analogy for our own journeys, both as individuals and as partners.
