Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the idea of imperfection and how it plays such a profound role in our lives. At Sweet Bee Artisan Boards, Shawn and I have found ourselves drawn to rustic lumberβ€”wood that many would consider flawed or imperfect. But as we’ve worked with these boards, I’ve come to see them as a powerful analogy for our own journeys, both as individuals and as partners.

Metamorphosis.

Swathed
within the confines
of her tendrils
Cocooned
by the veins
of trepidation

the constraint
of knowledge

of an image
of that which
she was meant to be.

Achingly
she fights
sinews stretched
tendons taut
‘tween flesh and bone
Shattered
is her strength
Dissolved
are her fears
and the form
she once knew.
She awakens.

With wings spread, she flies away…

…and does not look back.

Twilight rent by a glitteredΒ moon
betray truth of a latentΒ fear.
A gildedΒ smile, a heartΒ onceΒ proud,
joys tarnished by the salt ofΒ tears.

Captivate thisΒ weariedΒ soul,
serenade her with a love divine.
Let the grains of silt that wounded her
be patterned for a jewel’s design.
